Why I Work at Dogs for Better Lives: Juan Ramos

By January 7, 2020 No Comments

Juan Ramos,
Apprentice Assistance Dog Trainer

The reason I chose to become part of DBL was their vision, the location-and having just moved to southern Oregon-I wanted to train Assistance Dogs to better other people’s lives. I am currently part of DBL’s 3-year Apprentice Dog Trainer program, further pursuing and perfecting my craft in becoming a Certified Assistance Dog Trainer.

My favorite quote helps me stay focused on why I work at DBL:

“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” – C.S. Lewis

Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, Juan graduated from the Animal Behavior College as a Certified Dog Behavior Instructor in 2017. Juan now lives in Medford, Oregon with his wife Melissa, teenagers Vanessa and Daniel, and his 15-year old pup, Paloma. When not training dogs, Juan spends time with his family, his church, and enjoys fishing, hiking, traveling and loves everything about food: eating and cooking it!
