CONTACT US

Before your dog comes to stay:

We are glad you have chosen Dogs for Better Lives as your pet(s) destination while you are away. To ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests, Dogs for Better Lives has a few simple requirements for our boarders. Please review our requirements and if you have questions call Dogs for Better Lives at (508)564-4088.

Vaccinations

We must have proof of the following vaccinations prior to boarding. Your veterinarian may fax the records to us at (508)564-4757 or email to boarding@dogsforbetterlives.org.

For the safety of all dogs, we cannot accept any dogs that do not have proof of up to date vaccinations, no exceptions.

  • Rabies – Current within 1-3 years per veterinarian requirement
  • Bordetella – Current within 1 year (recommended every 6 months for daycare)
  • DHPP – Current within 1-3 years (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvo virus)
  • Canine influenza – Presently not required but strongly recommended
  • Negative Fecal – Current within 6 months to participate in Daycare

All dogs must have their required vaccinations at least 14 days prior to entry.

Fleas & Ticks

Cape Cod has a heavy population of both fleas and ticks. Therefore, we require that all pets be on a veterinarian recognized product for flea and tick protection in order to protect our facility from any infection and thus, protect all of the pets. If your pets are found to have external parasites, they will need to see a veterinarian for treatment at your own expense.

Heartworm

All dogs must be heartworm negative and be on monthly veterinarian approved heartworm preventive medication.

Feeding

All dogs must have their own food upon check-in. Please prepare each meal serving size in a separate bag or container with your dog’s name on it. Do not bring your own bowls. We have our own that go through an industrial sanitizer after every feeding. If your dog requires a slow feeder though or any other special feeding device for medical reasons, those are allowed and need to be provided by the owners. Please notify a staff member when making your reservation.

Toys

Each suite is equipped with a complementary raised cot style bed called a Kuranda Bed. If you wish to provide your dog with toys, blankets or beds from home we are happy to accommodate but caution that items can become wet or chewed when in a kennel environment. Dogs for Better Lives is not responsible for loss or damage to any personal items left with your pet.

Dog Suites

We offer 2 sizes of suites for our dog guests. All have inside tempered glass doors so they can enjoy the company of their fellow pets and observe the activities of our dedicated staff.

Note: Each suite is cleaned daily using Rescue Accel, all water and food bowls are cleaned in our industrial sanitizer, complete cleaning protocols and products utilized for cleaning can be provided upon request.
